Robbert Kuppens is global CIO of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). He is responsible for driving both innovation and operational excellence in BCG’s global IT operations and collaborating across the BCG operations team to optimally enable BCG’s strategy consultants and BCG’s customers. He is able to do so by balancing best-in-class foundational IT with transformational leading edge IT capabilities, for example BI dashboarding, automatic provisioning, role-based apps workflow and autonomous sensoring.
Robbert actively engages peers around the globe to leverage best practices across peers and BCG customers.
He is reporting to BCG’s CEO & president Rich Lesser.
Before joining BCG, Robbert was CIO of Cisco Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia (EMEAR) since 2007, with a revenue of approx. 14 billion dollars of Cisco’s global 48.1 billion dollar revenue, after joining Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group in 2001 as “Evangelist” working with board members of numerous organisations sharing how the Internet and Cisco’s capabilities enabled new business models (and revenue growth and profits).
Before Cisco Robbert was the responsible senior partner for e-Strategy at KPMG’s Strategy Consulting group Nolan, Norton & Co., leading a group of strategy consultants. Before that he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation and NCR Corporation as senior business manager, principal consultant and business consultant.
Working with the Board of Directors at numerous companies he has build up a network in which he now leverages BCG’s experiences with an optimal added value for both the customers and BCG.
He is a part-time venture partner with Big Bang Ventures (BBV) and lectures at the University of Utrecht (the Netherlands) on the topics of Enterprise Architecture and Networked Virtual Organisations and the CIO MBA programme at Nyenrode Business Universiteit (the Netherlands).
